Actors' Equity Association and Broadway League Agree to Contract

Visitors to New York City can breathe a sigh of relief after the Actors' Equity Association and the Broadway League agreed to terms for a new contract last Wednesday that covers shows on the Great White Way and national tours, Reuters reports. The agreement comes after two months of cordial negotiations in which both Equity and League representatives fought for what they wanted while also taking significant time to to listen. With both sides satisfied, the shows will continue to go on without interruption.

A significant provision of the agreement remains compensation for actors who do publicity pieces for the Web. Meanwhile, for the second consecutive contract, both sides revised terms on touring, in which a scale of compensation will be awarded depending the success of a show on Broadway. In a released statement, parties called it a "revised touring arrangement ... to promote League touring productions that will provide more employment for Equity members."
